Clinical Observations Learning Programme Launch

Our latest Learning Programme, Clinical Observations, is now live for active subscribers.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Learning Programme, Clinical Observations, a cutting-edge immersive experience designed to revolutionize how healthcare professionals acquire and practice essential patient care skills. This innovative program offers an engaging and interactive approach to learning the vital signs monitoring process, making education more dynamic, hands-on, and effective.

Learners garner enhanced competency by combining theory with practical application

The Clinical Observations Learning Programme consists of six meticulously crafted lessons that cover fundamental clinical skills every healthcare worker must master to ensure patient safety and high-quality care. Each lesson immerses the learner in realistic patient scenarios, offering a first-person perspective on assessing vital signs and responding appropriately. The lessons are structured to build knowledge progressively, enabling learners to develop competence and confidence.

Introduction & Oxygen Saturation lesson

Lesson 1 - Introduction & Oxygen Saturation

The first lesson introduces learners to the clinical environment and sets the stage for understanding vital signs. It begins with oxygen saturation, a key indicator of a patient's respiratory health.

Users will learn how to use pulse oximeters to measure oxygen levels in the blood, interpret normal and abnormal readings, and understand when to escalate care.

The experience offers learners the ability to practice their skills in a safe, controlled environment with real-time feedback, ensuring they can accurately perform oxygen saturation checks in clinical settings.

Lesson 2 - Respiration Levels

Respiratory rate is a critical component of patient assessment, often the first sign of deterioration.

This lesson allows learners to observe, count, and evaluate respiration rates, developing their ability to spot irregularities such as tachypnea or bradypnea.

Through immersive VR technology, learners are placed in various patient scenarios to practice identifying both normal and abnormal breathing patterns, making this crucial skill second nature.

Lesson 3 - Pulse

Accurately assessing a patient’s pulse provides insight into their cardiovascular health.

In this lesson, users will gain hands-on experience measuring pulse rates and rhythms using a range of techniques, including radial and carotid pulse assessments.

The VR environment simulates various patient conditions, helping learners distinguish between normal, rapid, or irregular pulses, and reinforcing the significance of these findings in overall patient care.

Lesson 4 - Blood Pressure

Blood pressure monitoring is an essential skill for identifying hypertension, hypotension, and other cardiovascular issues.

Learners will practice taking manual and automatic blood pressure readings while learning how to interpret the results.

The immersive experience replicates real-life situations, allowing users to adjust their approach based on patient characteristics, such as age or medical history. Through continuous practice, users will master this skill, ensuring they can handle even the most challenging scenarios with confidence.

Lesson 5 - Alertness

Assessing a patient's level of consciousness is vital for determining their neurological status.

This lesson provides learners with the tools to evaluate alertness using the AVPU scale (Alert, Voice, Pain, Unresponsive) and other clinical methods.

The VR simulation includes a variety of patient scenarios that challenge users to recognize changes in alertness levels, helping them react swiftly and appropriately in real-world situations.

Lesson 6 - Temperature

Measuring a patient's body temperature is a routine but critical procedure, as fever can indicate infection or other underlying health issues.

In this lesson, learners will become proficient in using different temperature measurement methods, including oral, tympanic, and axillary techniques.

The VR environment offers a realistic platform for learners to practice identifying abnormal temperature readings and understanding the implications for patient care.
